Britanny

Brittany consists of four counties: Morbihan, Finistere, Côtes-d’Armor and Ille-et-Vilaine. Breizh is the Breton word for Brittany. “Be Breizh!” Is the official slogan of the Brittany region. This slogan was developed with the underlying idea that visitors got their inner strength from the power of Brittany. “Be Breizh” is also used to wish someone luck.

In area is almost as large as the Netherlands. There live about 2.5 million people and has a coastline of over 1,700 kilometers.

 

Cabellou

Is a quiet suburb of Concarneau. About this place there is a myth that in the past each night the trolls were excavating gold  in the forests of Cabellou.  Until today it is still unclear if this has been really the case.

In the little church of St. Fiarce located at Cabellou Plage is almost always a weekly changing exhibition of an local artist. There is also a bar / tabac with during summer a “depot de pain” and a Bar Brasserie “Cabellou place”.

Archipel des Glenan

From the house you have a view on the archipelago of Glenan. By boat from Concarneau you sail to this  archipelago in about 1 hour. During the summer the archipelago is inhabited by many sailing schools and water tourists. Here you find yourself in Caribbean, azure blue sea and white beaches. This is well worth a visit.

You should not miss a visit to the “ville close”, the fortress of Concarneau.

Point Du Raz

Further west about 1 hour away is the beautiful natural parc Point du Raz located. Definitely worth to visit and walk around, even in bad weather it is fascinating.

Pont Aven

To the east you will find, about 20 kilometers away, painters village  Pont Aven where also Vincent van Gogh painted some time. It is really a painter village where many local artists exhibit their works.

 

Carnac, Cote Sauvage, Quiberon

A little further to the east is the cosmopolitan resort of Carnac, with its famous standing stones (Menhirs). From there you drive south along the “cote sausage” with its impressive waves. At the tip of the peninsula is Quiberon.

Activities

There are a lot of activities you can do in this area, like:

  • hikking on one of the many so called “De Grande Randonnée”;
  • Windsurfing;
  • kite surfing, at Point de la Torch or plages de Kersidan or plages de Randene
  • sailing;
  • swimming;
  • golfing;
  • Or visit the bulbs at Point de la Torche
